About Us

  • It is easy to feel isolated, frustrated and overwhelmed.
  • Many African women feel the stress of navigating two cultures.
  • Many African women feel the pressure of defining independence, freedom and success – often at odds with ethnic cultures and traditions with which they have been raised.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE
African Women Connect, LLC provides opportunities for personal development, networking, sharing information and community involvement.

Through organized events and community involvement activities, members and participants discover local venues, experience old activities in new ways, explore new possibilities, and connect with people and community.

AWC is more than a social gathering to have fun and get together with old and new friends. It’s A MOVEMENT to truly connect African women. The organized events are intended to bring African women together to expand and strengthen their relationships, determine their shared values, core beliefs, strengths and weaknesses, and stimulate actions needed to bring about desired changes in the individual self and the community.

Mission:
To create a network to empower women of African descent, linking them to valuable resources and promoting partnerships that strengthen individual and communal success.

We envision a world where African women are viewed and recognized as valuable contributors to society by themselves and others.

Objectives:
Provide a culturally sensitive environment for all African women to encourage social interaction, relationship building and support of each other

  • Provide meaningful opportunities to make a difference in the community through volunteer/charity work
  • Encourage and support business ownership
  • Publish personal stories, articles and news about and in the voice of African women
  • Collaborate with other organizations to build strategic relationships to create valuable opportunities for African women
